NEW FLY-OUT HOTLINE ANNOUNCED We now have a phone line in place where members can get information on the next fly-out. This phone will be active all month. The number is 610-346-6832. This number will also be the final word on whether a flight is on or off on the morning of the flight. CALL THIS NUMBER ON THE MORNING OF THE FLIGHT, AFTER 7:30 AM, TO DETERMINE IF THE FLIGHT IS ON OR OFF. Decisions are, of course, dependent on the weather. If the flight is cancelled, this message will also advise if it is rescheduled for the next week. Many of our flights will now have a second date. The Fly-out Captain is using the following rules to decide whether to go or not: 1: We use the current weather at MMU and CDW for our calculations since most flights originate at or around them and they have weather reporting info. 2: We fly in VFR only. The weather must be actual VFR at these airports when we leave and must be forecast to be VFR at the destination about arrival time. Then it must be forecast to be VFR at MMU and CDW about the time of return. 3: If there are no conflicts with something else important, any weathered out trip is automatically scheduled for the following week. 4: If weather prevents us from going two weeks in a row the trip is automatically cancelled. As always, the final go/no-go decision is up to you, the Pilot in Command. MAPA takes no responsibility for the pilotís decision. Hopefully these new enhancements will make our fly-outs better, safer, and better attended than ever. See you on the next trip. Remember, if you don't own a plane, try to bum a ride with someone who does or just rent one but come and join the fun. Also, remember that the fly-outs are the pilot-in-command's decision for a go, no-go situation and that all fly-outs are voluntary participation.
